Meet Our Experienced Team

When you visit the Dentist you want to know that the people caring for you are qualified, highly experienced and have your best interests at heart. At Hopvine House Dental Practice we have been caring for the oral health of our patients for many years and invest heavily in our modern practice whilst upholding the highest level of care for you.

Our highly qualified practitioners and staff work closely together as a team, to treat you competently, thoroughly and with the traditional values of consideration and care.

Before you even sit in the dental chair you will be given the opportunity to discuss your dental problems.   In this way we can understand any concerns that you may have. Every patient is individual and will be treated with respect and dignity.

Careful and individual treatment plans are designed and estimated fees provided so that you are confident that we have addressed all your issues.

 

 

 

Eduardo Antunes  DFN – GDC 102286 

Eduardo graduated in Brazil in 1995 where he worked for seven years at the restorative dentistry department in an Army Hospital Dental Clinic. He also had a partnership in a private practice and contributed as lecturer at the Federal University of Pernambuco for 2 years.

Leaving Brazil in 2003 Eduardo moved to Portugal and worked as dentist in private dental practices in central Lisbon for 3 years.

Moving to England in 2006 he initially worked in Warrington for 2 years before moving to Cambridge where he has been settled and working as a general dental practitioner for the last 9 years.

Working all these years in dentistry gave Eduardo the confidence needed to deliver contemporary dentistry. He considers himself a committed dentist and patients normally comment how gentle and friendly he is.

Away from work Eduardo enjoys gardening, bike ridings, baking, travelling and spending time with his family and friends.

 

Mary Hodson – BDS – GDC 153959 

Mary qualified from The University of Sheffield in 2008 and has worked within the Cambridgeshire area since this time.

Mary enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and also provides Invisalign clear aligner treatment. She likes to provide patient centered care with particular emphasis on prevention.

Away from work Mary is part of a national salsa dancing team which takes up much of her spare time and enjoys spending time with family and friends, she also has a passion for animals.

 

Douglas Williamson – GDC  229986 

BDS University of Manchester 2012

Douglas qualified from University of Manchester in 2012 and then attended the University of Kent until 2013.  Douglas has a great interest within minor periodontal surgery including crown lengthening and pocket reduction surgery.

Douglas is also a certified Invisalign provider.

 

Andrew McCarthy – GDC 77880 

BDS Newcastle University 2000

Andrew graduated from Newcastle Dental School in 2000.  Andrew has been offering private dental services in London for over 15 years and joined Hopvine House practice in 2019.

As an Invisalign provider, Andrew is very experienced with this system having held platinum elite status with Invisalign, he as also has experience of other orthodontic products including Six Month Smiles and Inman Aligners.

Andrew also has an interest in obstructive sleep apnoea.

 

Paul Humber – BDS, LDS, RCS – GDC 60406

Paul

Paul’s special interest is Invisalign orthodontics; giving patients the smile they always wanted using only their natural teeth. He is one of the only practitioners in Britain whose postgraduate qualifications are based on research into the Invisalign technique,  which has been widely published. He was one of the first practitioners in Britain to use Invisalign and has successfully treated over 1800 patients using the system since 2003.

As well as working at Hopvine House he lectures on the subject to postgraduate dentists in the UK and around the world. He qualified at London University in 1985 and won the prestigious J A Smith Prize and the Lonnon Bursary from London University for Orthodontics and Dental Materials Science.

His work and research has been published in the journals Orthodontic Dentistry, Orthodontic Practice US, the Probe, Dentistry, and Aesthetic Dentistry Today where he is also on the editorial board.

Paul’s aim is to listen to what the patient actually wants for their teeth and work with them to give them the smile they deserve.

In his spare time he enjoys cinema, football, contemporary art, photography,  and theatre. He has had four novels published and is currently writing a series of thrillers.

 

 

Practice Manager & Dental Nurse – Esther McIntyre – GDC  252821   

Esther’s main responsibilities are ensuring the practice runs smoothly which includes ensuring full compliance, overseeing the procedures and systems within the practice.  Esther is also a fully qualified experienced nurse who will assist chair side when required.

All our nurses are qualified, and several of them have undertaken training in expanded duties. These additional courses enable nurses to carry out additional procedures such as taking impressions, removing sutures, advising and supervising dental whitening techniques, taking x rays etc.

 

Receptionists 

 
Kim Locke Jacqui Cattle

Kim and Jacqui are our front of house Receptionists.  If they are not available you will be greeted by one of our nurses.

All of the team will  answer the phone to you, ‘with a smile in their voice’! They also remind you by phone, text and e-mail of your appointments and have an active recall/maintenance system in place. They also manage interactions between the practice and our various laboratories.
